REFLECTION – Timileyin Gabriel Olajuwon

1

When you look into a mirror,

How do you explain the spots in your shadow:

Do you see a ghost or a vast coast,

a silent grave or a burning altar,

a swaying dove or a playing cat,

a body, a soul or a spirit fighting your ageless self?

11

Mama said " a woman's heart is a reflection of self;

it is a talking drum of two faces,

what face you see is whom you've become;

when you see a silence like the calm ocean or

an emptiness like a withered leaf,

look beyond your eyes to see the shadow in your darkest hour

& be the silence in graveyards of living souls... "

111

This is how to begin a

journey into a woman's heart:

"Begin with a reflection of self

& end with an expression of silence"

"The Garden of Fears" by yeşim ağaoğlu

"Alternatif" by yeşim ağaoğlu

"Alternatif" by yeşim ağaoğlu

the gardens of fears

when its night time murderers come to the garden of fears

to swing on the swings

they get on the danger-slides  and slide away

they jump thru the terror-hoop

and dig in the sand pile of regrets

as if to bury their murders there

each time swearing this is the last time

but ah once the full moon rises

and if the owls are hooting too

their hands begin to grow huge

glitter of knives are in their eyes

gun-darkness settles on their faces

vapours invade the garden of fears

the howl of wolves here and there

the dogs are smelling blood

murderers drop in to swing on the swings

WHERE I CAME FROM

This is a song on the lips of gods...

Since gods are spirits,
where do gods live? - you may ask;
gods live in the desert of milk
of honey set in between dry bamboos,
they house in a cave of public streets
of living dead - wrenched of the earth,
they hide in the rusty land of gold
of flowing streams set on swollen faces,
they live in the mind of riches and
the thought of life's tussle.

gods live in the body
In the memories of our being;
of war, pains, smile and joy,
they live in the red wine of our broken bones
and in the seasoned smile of broken promises
(Epistle of lies);
gods live in the pit of unknown pity
on the vast field of greenish grains.

this song reminds me of
the tears of my mother,
the pains of my father,
the plights of my brothers,
and the "dryness" of my sisters...
it reminds me of silence
in the memory of where I came from!

DEVIL'S TRICK, digital collage by Lidia Chiarelli

DEVIL'S TRICK, digital collage by Lidia Chiarelli

Devil trick

I'm good at digging the hole in your heart

And live in it

From time to time out

I recaptured some of your bad thoughts

Sealed with thin hemp sutures

Pickled as a cold dish to go with the wine

That taste

Full of spicy

Like it

Quel gusto

Pieno di spezie

Mi piace

WORLD POETRY'S DAY by Teresinka Pereira, Brazil

WORLD POETRY'S DAY
March 21st 2017

Poetry smiles
even when it
fluctuates in sadness.
Poetry communicates
with nobles in palaces
even when is made
inside a shed
or under a tree.
God save poetry
because it denies
the end of the World
and makes someone
smile when the rest of us
are going crazy!

Teresinka Pereira
