I hold the moth In cupped hands Saved from incineration By the siren light In our kitchen, The moth flown in From the outside Enticed By its bright allure.
What to do ? He’ll only come back. Hands released Through an open window Into the ink jet darkness Saved to feed A night bird on the wing Carried To a brood of open beaks A link In the greater cycle. I close the window,
