POETRY WORKSHOP AT PAINSHILL
You blend into the autumnal colours
reds, orange, yellow and brown.
The sweeping boughs of trees
conceal you.
At first
your voice cannot be heard
above the wind
the crunch of dead leaves
the thud of conkers
as you fight to read out loud
ruins, follies, lakes, vineyards
your words fluttering
the wind competing.
But leaves and poems
colours and sounds of Autumn
will have their way…
